The Museum of Science (Boston) is reinventing itself to make manifest its mission of Science for All. To achieve this ambitious goal, the Museum completed a Blue Wing (2018) and Carbon Neutral Master Plan (2024) and is now implementing both. The project includes the Public Science Common (a four-sided glass box, flexible theater); Exhibits, Universal restrooms, full MAAB upgrade to the Museum campus, and the infrastructure to support the Museum's goal to be a carbon neutral leader in the region.
Join in an interactive discussion with the Museum, the Architect, and the Construction Manager as they discuss the complexities and joys of designing and constructing the new Public Science Common at the Head of the Charles River. The discussion will address the following topics:
- Double Skin Curtainwall Technology
- Making a 1970's Brutalist Structure Accessible to All
- Construction Logistics when Building on a Dam in a River
- Long range planning to meet the BERDO and BEUDO requirements of Boston and Cambridge
